Connecting the Dots: Influenza Vaccination

Connecting the Dots: Influenza Vaccination is a one-page resource guide designed to support your program’s influenza vaccination efforts. This guide contains the latest tools, materials, and initiatives in one convenient place, helping immunization programs, healthcare providers, and community partners access what they need quickly and easily.

The guide is organized into three categories:

  • Health Education – learning resources for immunization program staff, partners, and health care providers

  • Program Planning – programmatic and clinic operations resources to streamline influenza vaccination activities

Updated monthly, Connecting the Dots serves as a centralized, go-to reference for influenza vaccination resources. If you have a resource to suggest for the next update, please email AIM.

Please note, we can’t keep links up-to-date on PDF documents you have already downloaded.

Communicating the Benefits of Influenza Vaccination

Communicating the Benefits of Influenza Vaccination is a one-page handout co-created by the Association of Immunization Managers (AIM) and Immunize.org, updated regularly to provide recent data and recommendations on flu vaccines, as well as tips for discussing them with patients. This resource highlights the serious impact of influenza, provides patient-focused messages to emphasize the importance of annual vaccination, and supports immunization programs, healthcare providers, and partners in reinforcing the value of influenza vaccines.

Influenza (flu) severity varies from year to year, but flu season always brings serious consequences.

Flu outbreaks are unpredictable; vaccination is the best preparation for any influenza season.

Flu vaccination is the best way to prevent the flu and its complications.

Everyone age 6 months and older is recommended to get a yearly flu vaccine. This can markedly lower the risk of influenza-related illness, hospitalization, and death. Flu vaccination rates have fallen in recent years, leaving more people at risk of severe flu. Take advantage of every opportunity to make a strong recommendation for getting the flu vaccine and other vaccines your patients may need, such as COVID-19, RSV, and pneumococcal vaccines. Flu vaccine may be given at the same time as other vaccines.
