AIM Statement on the CDC Attack

The Association of Immunization Managers (AIM) joins the nation in sharing our shock and grief after Friday’s attack on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We are deeply saddened to see misinformation and misunderstanding lead to violence against those working selflessly to protect others. The people who choose careers dedicated to protecting the lives of others should not be subject to fear of attack for doing their jobs. We support and honor all our CDC colleagues now dealing with the aftermath of this horrific event. We especially honor the sacrifice and memory of Officer David Rose, who died protecting others. We encourage our nation’s leaders to stand together in communicating messages that affirm and support the public health workforce, promote trust in science, and categorically reject violence against any public servant.
