AIM represents state, territorial and local immunization programs that receive direct federal grants from the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) grantees. These grantees, or Project Areas, include the 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Republic of Marshall Islands, Micronesia, the Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Chicago, New York City, Houston, San Antonio and Philadelphia.

Active AIM membership is limited to the program manager of each of these 64 federal grantees. AIM also has one other class of membership, associate, for immunization program staff.

Active Membership

Active membership is limited to the public employee or official designated by any state, territorial or municipal government as the person primarily responsible for actively directing the immunization effort for that area. Each Project Area is entitled to one vote in official decisions or business of the Association.

Associate Membership

Associate membership is open to any employee from any governmental immunization program within an active member’s Project Area, or from any immunization-related organization in the Project Area. This member can attend all open meetings and can participate on committees of the Association, but does not have voting privileges.
