Mission Statement

Through advocacy, collaboration and leadership,
AIM represents state, local, and territorial immunization projects
to promote effective immunization policies, programs and practices.

Goals and Objectives (priority objective in bold italics)

I. Advocate for policies and funding that support effective immunization programs and practices.

  1. Advocate for increased funding for immunization programs authorized by Section 317 of the Public Health Service Act
  2. Encourage expansion of points of access for children who are underinsured and who are entitled to vaccine purchased through the Vaccines for Children program
  3. Advocate for policies and programs which improve access to vaccines for adults, adolescents and children.

II. Provide leadership in the creation of state and national immunization polices

  1. Participate on or engage with committees engaged in national immunization-related issues
  2. Develop and disseminate policies/position statements that address issues of priority importance to AIM members.
  3. Monitor state level policy issues and facilitate sharing of related federal, state and local resources among states.

III. Ensure communication is clear, timely and effective among AIM members and partner organizations

  1. Effectively represent the views of AIM members by seeking member input and the transparent documentation of decisions
  2. Enhance the reputation of AIM as an authoritative resource for information on immunization-related issues through the provision of expert advice.
  3. Support AIM members through the tabulation and analysis of pertinent data.
  4. Develop information sharing and response protocols for both internal and external communication
  5. Further develop and maintain the AIM website to provide enhanced communication.
  6. Utilize media to increase the visibility of AIM and promote organizational goals.

IV. Foster effective collaborations to achieve mutual goals toward sound immunization polices and programs

  1. Strengthen relationships with CDC/NCIRD to coordinate policy development and program management
  2. Annually assess areas of mutual interest and joint ventures with key partners in an effort to strengthen working relationships

V. Promote the capacity for effective immunization program management among AIM members

  1. On an ongoing basis explore opportunities to enhance the AIM mentor network
  2. Collect and disseminate immunization program management “Best Practices”
  3. Recognize exceptional and innovative state, local and territorial immunization programs
  4. Identify and communicate opportunities for appropriate training for AIM members
  5. Conduct an annual AIM meeting to ensure communication of appropriate issues and to establish networking opportunities for AIM members.

VI. Ensure the sustainability and growth of AIM

  1. Develop policies and procedures for the acceptance of funding from outside sources
  2. Expand AIM personnel to support programmatic activities as needed
  3. Evaluate membership categories and explore opportunities to expand AIM membership
  4. Collect annual membership dues
  5. Increase membership participation in AIM activities
  6. Evaluate and refine AIM member committees to meet strategic goals and objectives
